Devil Hunt Operation: 591 More Arrests Across the Country

Operation Devil Hunt continues nationwide with 591 more arrests in the latest phase. Along with members of the ruling Awami League, notorious criminals and armed offenders have been detained. A significant cache of weapons has also been seized during the operation.

Dhaka: The nationwide operation Devil Hunt has continued its momentum, resulting in the arrest of 591 individuals on the fourth day of the campaign. Along with members of the ruling Awami League, known for their fascist tendencies, notorious criminals, including robbers and extortionists, are also being detained.

 

As of Wednesday afternoon, 24 hours into the latest phase of the operation, the authorities have also apprehended 1,095 individuals in connection with other cases and warrants. Over the course of the operation, authorities have seized a significant number of both domestic and foreign weapons. The previous phase of the operation, which ran from Saturday evening to Tuesday afternoon, saw the arrest of 2,128 individuals.

 

Among the high-profile arrests, Sohail Murad, a former MP Sheikh Helal's personal assistant, was detained from the airport on Tuesday night. In Tongi, seven individuals, including Parvez, the nephew of Gazipur City Awami League President Advocate Azmat Ullah Khan, were arrested. On Wednesday afternoon, Saifuzzaman Papu, former law secretary of the Chhatra League at Rangamati Science and Technology University, was also apprehended. In Mymensingh, 22 individuals were arrested by Wednesday noon, while 28 individuals were detained in Chittagong City.

 

In Savar and Ashulia, both within Dhaka District, 20 individuals were arrested with weapons. According to a report sent by the police headquarters, a foreign pistol, a Chinese rifle (stolen from police), two shotguns, four single-barrel guns, a magazine, three rounds of ammunition, 17 rounds of cartridges, 20 cocktails, six knives, a sword, a hammer, a range tool, pliers, a sewing range, two iron pipes, a cutter, and three machetes were recovered during the operation.

 

The operation Devil Hunt continues as police ramp up efforts to apprehend criminals and seize illegal arms.
