Former MP Majid Khan Sent to Jail

Former MP of Habiganj-2 Abdul Majid Khan arrested in a murder case. Detained by Dhaka Detective Police from Farmgate, he was later sent to jail after a brief court hearing.

HABIGANJ: Former Awami League Member of Parliament (MP) from Habiganj-2 constituency, Abdul Majid Khan, has been arrested in connection with a murder case. On Monday night, the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) apprehended him from the Farmgate area in the capital.

On Tuesday morning, Majid Khan was presented before the Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court in Habiganj, where police informed the court that he had been arrested in a case involving the murder of nine individuals filed at the Baniachang Police Station. However, the police did not request a remand, and no defense lawyer filed a bail application on behalf of the accused. After a brief hearing, the court ordered that he be sent to jail.

Following his arrest in Dhaka on Monday night, Majid Khan was transferred to the custody of Habiganj police. Habiganj Court’s Police Inspector Sheikh Nazmul Haque confirmed the information.
