Tarik Rahman Calls for Unified Effort to Rebuild the Nation

Tarique Rahman stresses the need for a united effort to rebuild Bangladesh in his address at the Narayanganj district BNP conference. He outlines his vision for the nation's future, focusing on education, economy, and revitalizing key sectors.

Narail: Acting Chairman of BNP, Tarique Rahman, has stated that now is the time to rebuild Bangladesh and move the country forward. For this, he emphasized the need for a united effort.

Speaking virtually as the chief guest at the biannual conference of Narayanganj district BNP on Sunday, he said, "For the past 15 years, BNP, its allied organizations, and other democratic political parties have been involved in the movement against autocratic rule. The dictatorship has fled. Now, it's time to build the country."

The conference, held at the Government Boys' High School ground in the district after a gap of 16 years, saw Tarique Rahman outlining his vision for the country's future. He emphasized that the same energy used to reorganize the party should now be channeled into rebuilding the country. "We must repair the state and its structures. The people of Bangladesh have witnessed, even if partially, how much the Bangladesh Nationalist Party has worked for the nation and its citizens. Though there may have been limitations, BNP has always tried to do what it could," he added.

Tarique Rahman highlighted the importance of improving the country's education system so future generations can build strong foundations. He stressed that the economy, agriculture, industry, and health systems all need to be revitalized for the welfare of the people, especially those at the grassroots level.

Addressing the district BNP leaders, he called for two key pledges: "First, remember, you are the soldiers of the martyred President Ziaur Rahman and the party leader, Begum Khaleda Zia. The primary focus for both these leaders was always Bangladesh and its people. The people of the country are watching and waiting for this party to lead the nation forward again."

He went on to say, "We have laid the groundwork for party reorganization, and now it is time to focus on the country's rejuvenation. Let’s take a third pledge: to win the trust of the people and rebuild the country based on the 31-point framework we presented nearly two and a half years ago."

Tarique Rahman reiterated that the 31 points outlined how to revive the nation from the damage done by the previous autocratic government. These points would guide the nation towards a better future.

"You must understand this, our goal remains the same: to rebuild this nation. We must stay united, and this should be our oath today," he stated, reaffirming the need for solidarity.

The event kicked off at 11 am with a speech by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's adviser, Amanullah Aman. Other leaders, including BNP's acting Organizing Secretary for Khulna Division, Anindya Islam, General Secretary Monirul Islam, and Joint Secretary Ali Hasan, also addressed the attendees.

After a break, the conference resumed at 2:30 pm, where voting took place for the positions of district president, general secretary, and organizing secretary. Voting for these positions concluded at 5 pm.

Jahangir Alam, the current president of Narayanganj district BNP, competed with Zulfikar Ali, the vice-president, for the president’s post. For the general secretary post, Monirul Islam, Shahriar Rizvi, and Kamrul Islam were the contenders. Four individuals competed for the organizing secretary position.
