Three Senior Police Officers, Including Former CMP Commissioner, Arrested

Three senior police officers, including the former Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police, have been arrested for alleged involvement in criminal activities. Legal actions are set to begin soon.

Three senior police officials, including the former Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), have been arrested. The arrests were made on Tuesday night from various locations, including Dhaka, according to sources from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Detective Branch (DB).
The arrested officers are: Saiful Islam, former Commissioner of CMP, Tanveer Salehin Imon, Superintendent of Police (SP) at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sarda, Rajshahi, and Rajon Kumar Saha, former Assistant Police Commissioner (ACP) at DMP's Badda Zone.
According to DB sources, Saiful Islam was arrested from various places in Dhaka on Tuesday night. He is being transferred to Chattogram on Wednesday. Islam faces charges related to the killing of a protestor during an anti-discrimination movement in Chattogram’s Chandgaon Police Station area.
In a separate case, Tanveer Salehin Imon, the SP at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sarda, Rajshahi, was arrested late Tuesday night by the DMP DB team. While the DB confirmed his arrest, the exact charges have not yet been clarified.
Additionally, Rajon Kumar Saha, the former Assistant Police Commissioner of DMP’s Badda Zone, was arrested for his alleged involvement in crimes against humanity during the July-August student protests. Gazi Monwar Hossain Tamim, a prosecutor at the International Crimes Tribunal, confirmed his arrest.
Legal proceedings against these officers are expected to begin shortly.
