30,000 metric tons of rice from Myanmar and India have arrived in Bangladesh through government-to-government agreements and open tenders. Necessary measures have been taken to unload the rice at Chattogram and Mongla ports.

A total of 30,000 metric tons of rice has arrived in Bangladesh, with 23,000 metric tons of Atap rice from Myanmar under a government-to-government (G2G) agreement, and 7,500 metric tons from India through an open tender process. The two shipments, the MV PTV Aroma and MV Alpha, have reached the ports of Chattogram and Mongla, respectively.

Senior Information and Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Food, Imdad Islam, confirmed the news on Friday. He stated, "Arrangements have been made to swiftly unload the rice from the ships."

He further mentioned that two more ships, carrying 8,500 metric tons and 10,000 metric tons of rice from India via an open tender, will arrive at Mongla port on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Earlier, 37,000 metric tons of rice, imported from India and Myanmar, had already arrived in Bangladesh on Wednesday. The Directorate General of Food is overseeing the import of this rice.
