Dhaka: Russian President Vladimir Putin has dispatched his foreign minister and senior adviser to Saudi Arabia for talks with US officials.

The main topic of discussion between the two sides in the powerful Middle Eastern nation will be the restoration of Russia-US relations and potential discussions regarding the end of the Ukraine war.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has already arrived in Riyadh ahead of the expected talks with Russian officials. He reached Saudi Arabia on Monday, local time.

Earlier, in a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump on Wednesday, Putin agreed to start immediate discussions to end the Ukraine war. The two leaders also touched on issues like the Middle East, energy, the US dollar, and artificial intelligence.

Who Will Be Representing Russia and the US?

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov will represent Russia in the talks.

On the US side, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, and the White House Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff will participate.

A Reuters report has also claimed that Kirill Dmitriev, the head of Russia’s sovereign wealth fund, will also meet with the US representatives.
