Milan Bows Out as Bayern Munich Advances to Last 16

AC Milan was eliminated from the Champions League after a 2-1 aggregate loss to Feyenoord, while Bayern Munich advanced to the last 16 with a 3-2 aggregate win over Celtic. Benfica and Brugge also secured their spots in the next round.

Dhaka: AC Milan's Champions League journey came to an end in the playoffs after a 2-1 aggregate loss to Feyenoord. Having lost the first leg 1-0, Milan needed a victory in the return leg, but instead, they were sent packing in tears.

In contrast, Bayern Munich sealed their place in the last 16 with a dramatic last-minute goal.

At San Siro, Milan initially took the lead through Santiago Giménez in the opening moments. Giménez, who had played for Feyenoord in the group stage, transferred to Milan and became only the second player in history to score for one team in a season and then net a goal against that team in the same season's playoffs. Despite scoring against his former team, he refrained from celebrating.

Although Milan was up 1-0 after just 26 seconds, their joy was short-lived as Feyenoord equalized in the 73rd minute through Julian Caranja. That goal ultimately ended Milan’s hopes as the seven-time European champions were eliminated with a 2-1 aggregate loss.

In another match, Bayern Munich faced danger. They were trailing 1-0 to Celtic in the second leg, and with the aggregate score tied, the match was heading into extra time. However, Alphonso Davies' goal in extra time secured a 3-2 aggregate win for Bayern, advancing them to the next round.

Earlier, Bayern had won the first leg 2-1 against the Scottish side, and in the return leg at Allianz Arena, they secured a 1-1 draw, confirming their place in the last 16.

Meanwhile, Benfica progressed to the last 16 after defeating Monaco 4-3 on aggregate, while Belgian club Brugge joined them after beating Atalanta 5-2 on aggregate.
